THE ASSET

About GOLD.

Gold is the reserve asset of last resort: no cash flow, no issuer and no credit risk, priced by what holders of currencies and real assets will pay to opt out of both. Real yields and the dollar dominate the day-to-day, while central bank reserve buying has become the slow bid underneath the market.

For a systematic trader gold is the cleanest low-beta diversifier available on a perpetual venue. It trends for long stretches and then goes quiet for months, so models earn most of their return across a handful of regime shifts rather than from continuous exposure.

WHAT MOVES THE PRICE
01

Real yields

The opportunity cost of holding a zero-coupon asset, and the strongest single driver.

02

Dollar direction

Gold is quoted in dollars, so broad USD moves show up directly.

03

Central bank demand

Reserve diversification is price-insensitive and slow to reverse.

04

Geopolitical and inflation stress

Episodic, but responsible for the sharpest repricings.

FAQ

GOLD market FAQ.

What is the best GOLD trading strategy?

AlphaNet does not run a strategy on GOLD yet. The page tracks the Hyperliquid GOLD perpetual — price, funding rate, open interest, volatility and drawdown — and strategies will be listed here when they go live.

Can I trade GOLD on Hyperliquid?

Yes. Gold trades as a perpetual futures market on Hyperliquid, deployed on a HIP-3 builder market rather than the main crypto order books. Every figure on this page is read from Hyperliquid's own API, which has data for this market from 2025-12-22 onward.

How volatile is GOLD?

The volatility section shows 30-day realised volatility computed from Hyperliquid's daily closes, next to the worst peak-to-trough drawdown of simply holding the commodity. Where the market is too young for a window, the figure is shown as unavailable rather than estimated.

Why do some GOLD figures show N/A?

Because this market has not existed long enough for that window — Hyperliquid's history for GOLD starts on 2025-12-22. AlphaNet shows nothing rather than filling the gap with an estimate.

How is this different from holding Gold?

Holding GOLD took a 27.7% peak-to-trough loss over the history Hyperliquid has for this market. A systematic strategy would size and hedge that exposure, but none is live on GOLD yet.

What is the minimum allocation?

1,000 USDC per strategy. Capital stays in your own account; AlphaNet holds trading permission only.

What do GOLD funding rate and open interest indicate?

Positive funding means crowded longs paying shorts; negative means the reverse. Open interest is the total outstanding contracts on the GOLD perpetual.
