Hyperliquid publishes a leaderboard in its interface and exposes position and fill data for any address through its API. The leaderboard endpoint itself is not in the documented API surface, which is why searches for it keep surfacing.
What is documented
The info endpoint returns state for any address: open positions, margin, fills, funding history. Because everything settles on-chain, any wallet’s activity is queryable whether or not that wallet wants it queried.
What people are usually after
Two things. Finding profitable traders to follow, and pulling performance data for analysis.
The first is harder than it looks. A leaderboard ranks by realised profit over a window, which rewards large positions and luck as reliably as skill. A wallet at the top of a 30-day board may be one leveraged bet from the bottom of the next.
What the leaderboard can’t tell you
Risk taken. Two wallets with identical returns can have run completely different exposure to get there. Returns without drawdown, volatility and sizing alongside them aren’t evidence of anything — which is why risk-adjusted measures exist.
